Ministry of Mining welcomes Derrick Smith

Minister of Mining and Telecommunications Derrick Smith addresses staff at the Ministry on Monday September 15, 2008.

 

Paying close attention to Minister Smith is Permanent Secretary Marcia Forbes. In his first staff meeting, the Minister explained that he was given the instrument assigning him to the Ministry of Mining and Telecommunications in May 2008 but was unable to fully assume duties for health reasons.

 

In the brief meeting Minister Smith informed staff that he had been apprised of the Ministry’s affairs by Energy Minister Clive Mullings and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Dr. Jean Dixon, both of whom he thanked for their assistance in overseeing the Ministry during his absence.
